You already know that Costco is good for your wallet, but the warehouse retailer also might give a boost to your body.
Members who take advantage of Costco’s full array of perks will find that the retailer offers several ways to increase wellness at an affordable cost.
Following are some of the ways that a Costco membership can improve your health.
1. You can purchase walkers, wheelchairs and alert devices
Those with health conditions will find an array of walkers, wheelchairs and medical alert products at Costco.
Many of these independent living devices can be purchased using funds from flexible savings accounts or health savings accounts.
2. You can schedule immunizations
Costco offers several types of immunizations and lists the cost for each vaccine on its website.
If you have Medicare, most immunizations are available for free.
3. Supplements with the USP seal are available
Costco sells many supplements with the USP Verified Mark.
This means the supplement meets the standards of United States Pharmacopeia (USP), a scientific, nonprofit organization that has been setting standards of quality for medicines, dietary supplements and foods for more than 200 years.
4. Costco offers eye exams and affordable eyewear
An optometrist can examine your eyes at Costco Optical even if you are not a Costco member. However, you must be a member to purchase glasses or contact lenses.
Costco also sells over-the-counter reading glasses and sunglasses to give your eyes a boost.
5. Hearing tests are available
You can purchase hearing aids from Costco, and the Hearing Aid Center offers hearing tests.
The Costco website also offers an online hearing assessment.
6. You can get deals on prescription drugs
The Costco Member Prescription Program helps members and their dependents get lower prices on prescription drugs.
Costco says members can save anywhere from 2% to 40% on their drug costs.
7. Healthful organic foods are available
Costco carries many organic foods, from applesauce and peanut butter to meat and seafood.
